About the Update

The Village of Silverton is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw—the two documents that guide how our community grows and changes over the next 10–20 years. We are currently in our public engagement phase and so now is the time for you to share your thoughts.

These plans affect:

  • Where housing can be built
  • How businesses operate
  • How we protect Slocan Lake and the natural environment
  • How Silverton grows while staying true to its character

This update ensures that:

  • Today’s values and priorities are reflected
  • Future housing needs are considered
  • Environmental protection is strengthened
  • Decisions are based on local knowledge—not assumptions

You do not need planning experience to participate. We are looking for your lived experience and honest opinions. There are no right or wrong answers.

How To Participate:

Choose any (or all) of the options below:

  1. Complete the survey (online or on paper)
  2. Attend the public open house on Thursday April 30, 2026 (details coming soon!)
  3. Email or drop off comments anytime during the engagement period to trish@silverton.ca

Why are we updating these plans?

Silverton’s current OCP and Zoning Bylaw were written over a decade ago. Since then, our community has changed. Feel free to review the existing planning framework for the Village of Silverton to see what you would change. We look forward to hearing from you.
