Public Works

Our mission: keep Silverton safe, reliable, and welcoming—every day and in every season.

Public Works looks after the essential, behind‑the‑scenes services that help our community run smoothly. From snow and ice control to water quality, road maintenance, and the care of parks and public spaces, our compact crew does big things for one of BC’s smallest municipalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weekly household waste pickup (Tuesday)
  • Road & sidewalk maintenance
  • Snow & ice control
  • Water system operation & monitoring
  • Parks, green spaces & public facilities upkeep
  • Support for community events

Working together

You can help keep Silverton running smoothly by:

  • Have garbage out on Tuesdays by 8am, tied bags weighing less than 10kg in a animal proof container.
  • Moving vehicles off the street during snowfall events.
  • Keeping water shut‑off valves and hydrants near your property accessible.
  • Trimming vegetation that obscures street signs or sightlines (from within your property).
  • Reporting hazards promptly and safely.

A note of thanks

Silverton’s Public Works is a small team with a big impact. If you see our public works staff out on the job, give them a wave—they take great pride in keeping our community thriving.

Our Public Works team continues to demonstrate exceptional dedication and pride in their work. In recent months, they have made significant improvements to the organization and cleanliness of the Village workshop and equipment shed—creating a safer, more efficient, and well‑maintained workspace. Their careful stewardship of the municipal fleet ensures that every vehicle and piece of equipment is reliable, well‑serviced, and ready to support daily operations.

Thanks to their consistent professionalism and hard work, the Village is better prepared, better organized, and better served every day.
