The above infographic shows the three FireSmart Home Ignition Zones around a home.

The Immediate Zone (0–1.5 m) is closest to the building and is the most critical area to reduce ember ignition. The Intermediate (1.5–10 m) and Extended Zones (10–30 m) focus on managing vegetation and fuels to prevent fire from spreading and to reduce wildfire intensity.

WILDFIRE RISK REDUCTION COURSE

The free Wildfire Risk Reduction course (about 3.5 hours online) helps non-forest professionals understand how wildfires affect homes and highlights simple, practical FireSmart steps to reduce risk. Using clear explanations and real‑world examples, the course builds confidence and helps homeowners take meaningful action to protect their property, family, and neighbourhood before wildfire season.
