Outdoor Mining Exhibits
Originally established by Frank Mills and the Silverton Historical Society, the Outdoor Mining Museum preserves an important piece of Silverton’s rich mining heritage. Located on the grounds of the Silverton Gallery beside Highway 6, the open-air collection features historic equipment recovered from mines throughout the surrounding area, including ore carts, air compressors, drills, tram towers and other machinery once used to extract and transport ore.
Together, these artifacts offer a fascinating glimpse into the demanding work, ingenuity and industrial equipment that helped shape Silverton during the Silvery Slocan mining era. Visitors are welcome to explore the museum at their own pace throughout the year.
