Position Objectives:

Silverton's Wildfire  Resiliency Garden

Thank you for your interest in helping care for Silverton’s public gardens! This pilot program allows residents to support the maintenance of select landscaped areas within the Municipal Block.

Program Areas

  • FireSmart Garden
  • Village Office grounds
  • Silverton Gallery garden
  • Lake Avenue beds


Typical Activities

Here are a few helpful tasks you can do:

  • Remove weeds within and immediately around garden beds
  • Deadhead (remove) spent flowers

 

Activities Requiring Approval

For anything beyond light maintenance, please check in with the Village first. Approval is needed for:

  • Planting new vegetation
  • Removing existing plants
  • Pruning or cutting back shrubs or perennials
  • Altering garden layouts or features

 

Registration & Communication

  • Please register with the Village Office before you get started
  • When you’re done, please let the Village Office know what you worked on

Tools and Materials

  • Please bring your own hand tools
  • If mulch is needed the Village can help out—and we’ll arrange pickup of garden waste

 

Safety Expectations

  • Please stick to light gardening tasks
  • No power tools, ladders, or other high‑risk activities
  • Dress for the weather and watch for uneven ground, insects, and changing conditions
